Weekly Update - 8/21/26
Hello! I hope you had a great week. Here’s this week’s Market Weekly for your mortgage insight.
This week, the economic reports sent mixed signals—some inflation numbers eased a bit, but hiring stayed robust. The Fed’s careful approach kept markets cautious, and that pushed mortgage rates up slightly across most programs. Overall, it was a week of small increases for borrowers.
Next week, we’ll watch the Middle East conflict and any peace talks, plus Fed officials’ comments on policy. Key data releases include Consumer Confidence and New Home Sales on Tuesday, Personal Income and the PCE price index on Wednesday, and the Jackson Hole summit where central bank leaders often speak.
